WATER & NATURE

A different path from ocean water to inland possibility.

The proposed steam-first pathway separates salt near the coast, carries water inland as vapor, and condenses freshwater at selected elevations.

SALTON SEA RESEARCH FOCUS

Support a living landscape. Start with the whole water balance.

The Salton Sea is a proposed destination for studying supplemental freshwater delivery. Our aim is to contribute to a healthier regional water future, in conversation with existing restoration efforts and local communities.

Freshwater supply alone does not resolve salinity, habitat, dust, agricultural runoff, or long-term inflow decline. A restoration plan needs an ecological model, water rights, dedicated allocation, and a funded operating strategy.

ILLUSTRATIVE WATER SCENARIO

See how a module could contribute.

Explore a planning case, not a production forecast.

1 year10 years
Cumulative delivered freshwater32.85million cubic meters

One proposed module · 20,000 m³/day · 90% availability · all output allocated to the lake.

Formula: 20,000 × 365 × 0.90 × full operating years. This is gross delivery after commissioning, not net lake-volume gain. Evaporation, changing inflows, conveyance losses, and other allocations would change the lake outcome. Commissioning dates are unconfirmed.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORK, FROM THE START

Protect the systems around the system.

Marine ecology

Study intake impacts, return-water temperature, brine concentration, and discharge mixing.

Inland habitats

Evaluate reservoir siting, migratory habitat, salinity response, land disturbance, and local water priorities.

Carbon performance

Measure avoided fossil heat and cooling electricity against auxiliary energy, construction emissions, and the chosen baseline. Net CO₂ savings are not yet verified.

BUILD THE NEXT CHAPTER

A water future, shaped with its communities.

We are seeking water researchers, restoration practitioners, tribal and local representatives, and public agencies.
